Rosalind Porter

Violin

Tyne Consort will be joined in October by guest violinist Rosalind Porter to perform Dvořák’s ‘American’ quartet.

Rosalind read music at Royal Holloway College, University of London, combined with violin tuition with Professor Max Morgan at the Guildhall School of Music and conducting studies. She played in the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, performing in all the major London concert venues and taking part in several British and world premieres. After graduation she worked at the BBC Radio Orchestra, BBC Proms and Radio 3. A conducting masterclass with Bruno Weil in Vienna inspired her to pursue her career abroad in Switzerland, Germany and Vienna, resulting in a wide international experience of artist and concert management.

Rosalind has continued her career as a freelance orchestral violinist and she is currently a member of the Soundpower Orchestra. She is also an occasional “listener-blogger” for the BBC Radio 3 website.
